The La Purísima Classical Guitar Confraternity (LPCGC) is structured as a dedicated scholarly fellowship inspired by the enduring traditions of California's mission era and the historical European music guilds. We are built on the foundational principles of a confraternity: a mutual society bound by a shared spiritual, educational, and artistic goal—in our case, the mastery of advanced classical guitar repertoire and technique. Our purpose is to move beyond casual group instruction, providing a rigorous yet supportive peer network that emphasizes detailed score analysis, performance preparation, and ethnomusicological inquiry. The LPCGC achieves this through formal monthly Soirées for performance review and peer-led masterclasses focused on the critical study of music, ensuring a continuous path toward the highest level of performance for every dedicated member.
The mission of the La Purísima Classical Guitar Confraternity (LPCGC) is threefold: to achieve Scholarly Performance, to master Advanced Repertoire, and to build a dedicated Community. We strive to move beyond mere technical execution to achieve a high standard of performance informed by historical context, critical score analysis, and ethnomusicological insight. This pursuit is grounded in the mastery of challenging, advanced classical guitar repertoire, chosen to stretch our technical and musical boundaries. Crucially, we are committed to building a mutually supportive community where dedicated peers offer rigorous, constructive feedback and shared encouragement, ensuring that every member is empowered on their continuous path toward performance excellence.
Hello, I'm Elijah Hernandez, and I founded the LPCGC to bridge the gap between dedicated student practice and advanced performance. While I am currently an undergraduate student on the path to completing my Associate in Arts for Transfer (AAT) degree and subsequently pursuing a major in Ethnomusicology, my vision for this confraternity is uncompromisingly focused on the highest standard of classical guitar mastery. This group is an extension of that scholarly commitment; it is where we will apply academic rigor—through critical analysis and historical study—to our playing. The LPCGC’s mission is to offer a collaborative, serious environment for dedicated artists in Orange County, ensuring that our shared journey is one of continuous and measurable artistic improvement.
